I set of to the Indian country, the 29th of the 5th mo 1796
Met my companions at Jermentown the 30th, (Whose Names
are John Peirce; James Cooper, Joseph Sansom, Isaiah-
Rowlon
; & Enoch Walker;) Taking Dinner at Gasperhan-
ess
; From thence to David Comminss 9 miles Lodging their
and at Samuel Gomeries; From thence to Oliver Paxsons
20 miles to Dinner; Then crossing Delawar River at Mitchels fer-
ry, so to Henry Cliftons at Kingwood, 17 miles Lodging their;
So over the high Lands of Jersey. To Jacob Lundeys, a worthy Fam
ily, where we was Exceeding Kindly Entertain’d; it being 39 miles
Leaving their; accompanied by one of their sons for a pilot Several
miles on our way to Joseph Drakes Tavern, in york State
crring County 49 miles; From thence we struck the North
River
at New Winsor (a Little Town on the bank of the north
River) so up the River to Daniel Burness to Dinner 20 miles
Thence to Edward Halucks 12 Miles, a Kind Family, Stay-
ing their Two Days, on the account of being at meeting on first
Day, there being a Small one about half a mile from Edwards
