this was the time of our distress in general, Dark
Clouds (is it were) hung over our Heads, But
blessed be the great good Spirit that in his Mer-
cy stired up the minds of his people the Friends
to cast compassion on us; and began to
send us relief and giving us many good Counsels
for the good of our bodies and souls. whereby
I and my people feel the acknowledgments for
the true love which Friends have toward poor
Indians in the Wilderness. and what can
we do but to return gratitude to our benefac-
tors and humbly hope the great good Spirit
will reward them abundantly, with Tempo-
ral and Spirittual Blessings. I hope there
are number of my people understand the intent
of the favours we received and make right im-
provements of them. I made enquiry of Han-
