A Copy of a Letter Wrote by a Brothertown Woman
Oneida 9th mo 10th 1797

Dear Friend,
Since I have been acquainted with the Fr-
iends, I have always had a particular regard for them, for
the many benefits they have, and are yet bestowing on
the Indians of different Tribes, in these parts; having
a mind to write a few lines to let thee know that I am
a well wisher to you that are called Friends, for I believe
you to be the true Desiples of Christ. How beutiful
are the feet of those that publisheth peace.

Having been acquainted with thy Brother, and
believing him to be one of those that Worship God, in
Spirit and in truth; and believe that he now retu-
rns home with the witness of truth in his own breast
I cant express myself as I would wish to.

but l will try to persevere in the way of well
doing,

So I must bid thee farewell, and
am thy Friend and well wisher.
Gracey Crosley
