progressing in agricultural improvements, having
lately commenced the raising other kinds of grain,
besides Indian Corn, which a few years past
was the only kind raised amongst them, and in
which they are still increasing; yet in finding
their necessity of further instruction in preserving
their stalks for the benefit of wintering their Cattle;
as well as in some other parts of their business,
we requested Ephrain Webster

their interpreter
to afford them some assistance therein the present
season; he being much interested in their welfare,
is disposed to do all he reasonably can for them,
and on moderate terms. They manifested their
gratitude for the attention and assistance of
Friends; and it appearing that the farming utensils
heretofore furnished were much worn, we concluded
to procure two ploughs, chains and several kinds
of tools for their use; they are desirous that one
or more of their young men should learn the
blacksmith' trade, provided a smith can be
