Notes: James Emlen was born at Middletown in 1792, the son of James Emlen and Phebe Peirce. He married Sarah Farquar, widow of William and daughter of Cadwallader and Phebe Foulke, in 1815. Elder of Chester Monthly Meeting. Taught at Westtown School. Died in 1866.
