Set off this morning for Willis-
town meeting; Shortly after we
cross’d Schuylkill we pass’d by a
small lot of spring barley, perhaps
the first we had seen. went to
my brother-in-law Amos Garretts
before meeting, 15 miles, & left our
horses, where I heard from my
dear wife & family, being the
first account I had from them
since I left home; & I felt truly
thankful I was so near my own
habitation, & among my near
relatives & intimate friends. We
return’d here from meeting, dined
& set off homewards; our roads
