Set off early for Kingwood, cross’d
the Pequest within one mile of
our quarters, then rode several
miles with it near on our right,
having the Allomoochy mountains
close on our left; here we pass’d
by what is call’d the great meadows
being several thousands of acres,
with very little timber on it, & a
large proportion without any; it
produces a valuable outlet, & some
coarse hay; for want of more fall
in the Pequest it cannot be drain’d.
