last evening having some conversation
with Cornplanter on the subject, he
inform’d us, they had two solemnites
in a year, when it was their practice
for their men & women generally to meet
together in one place; the first was
in the spring, the other in the fall
about the time corn was ripe, the
latter was a time of rejoicing, & to
return thanks to the Great Spirit for
this blessing. They did not keep
the first day of the week, but every
one tried to think good in his own
mind; & as we could read the bible
he queried whether there was any
thing said in it about the Indians.

all nations, kindred, tongues & people,
