house, she was willing to part with it,
but having put in a few spots with
corn, and vines, (the whole not being more
than 3 or 4 Perches quare,) she appear-
ed unwilling to relinquish them, and
they were so in our way that we thought
better look elsewhere, for a settlement, but
upon the chief’s conferring with her, she
was willing to part with all the spots,
except one, which was not much in our
way, and as we understood she was a
sober woman, that would be likely to
make good use of her money, we paid
her 20 dollars for her house and, pri-
viledges, and with our assistance she
removed out;and in less, than an hour
we had possession; our young men
gave the house thorough cleaning,
and before dark we had our soanty
furniture arranged for house-keeping
