w turned to our right leaving the
main road that leads to Casauaga
Le Boeuf and Presqueisle to our left.
We had stones with a very rough
country for a while, in places very
poor; in about 12 miles we crossed
a rich bottom in a small stream, here
was plenty of pasture, being the first
we had seen since we left home in the
woods. From thence to Oyk creek through
level rich land 6 mile. Here we met
with an house being the second we
had seen since we had left Franklin
and look up our quarters. After feeding
our horses with some corn we turned them
for the first time into the open woods, these
being plenty of grass and other luminant
growths. This is the most desireable place
I have seen, for many miles back. a
fertile bottom on the creek with plenty
