which the Indians assisted us in doing
also found materials for it.

Although we find suffitient
encouragement to persevere in
the Work, we cannot but lament
the evil effects produced by an
intemperate use of Spirittuous
Liquors amongst these poor peo-
ple. They procur’d much of
it this Spring when out in the
frontier Settlements, disposing
of their Skins, Furs, & c. which
caused us renewed engagement
of mind to bear a Testimony
against it, and qualificati-
on
