that the experiment of civilizing a na-
tion of Indians he had not seen ful-
ly tryed - but could discouver no more
of a wild nature in them than pre-
vaild among the whites. provide the oppor-
tunity of education was the same.
He said it was a great undertaking for
us to leave our near connections and fri[en]ds
but necesity call'd loudly for some
attention to be given them- signifying
he had heard of our society giving them
some assistance, but had no idea so much
was done-- On parting with him we
had his good will and wishes for our
success--
