Notes: Lived 17 miles from Reading, Pennsylvania. Lodged David Bacon for a night in 1794. Samuel was the son of Edward Hughes and a member of Exeter Monthly Meeting. He married Mary Penrose in 1778 and Rebecca Starr in 1792. He was disowned in 1781 for taking an oath of allegiance, but acknowledged again in 1791.
