3rd mo which is their pleasantest time
for travelling in the whole year; they
do their carting & travelling much
with sleds, the roads become smooth
& good, there are no swamps or mud
then in the way, neither is the snow
often soften’d with rain in the win-
ter; some seasons they have had
very little or no frost in the ground;
& as far as they have tried clover, they
say it answers very well, not being
hurt in the winter with frost.
About 9 oclock in the morning we
look leave of our kind & valued friends
Asa Schooly & wife, with their children,
having their, & many friends hearty
wishes for our safe return. Stopped at
Daniel Pound’s a little while, then
taking our leave of them set off
down the lake for Buffaloe, & arrived
