a majestic appearance of rocks &
stones piled up in very uniform
order, in places from 20 to 60 feet
high, as upright as the wall of
a house, & in other places projecting
over several feet; The bottom of these
rocks with the beating of the waves,
& sand & gravel, were worn into
curious shapes, & as smooth as polish’d
marble; From the tops of these
rocks the water was trickling
down very entertainingly; I observ’d
some rocks standing in the edge
of the water, as large over & round
as a mill stone, the upper part
whereof was worn nearly to the
shape of the largest end of an
egg, & as round as if turn’d in a
lathe. In a number of places
the water came up to the wall
