There being a white man living
amongst them that could interpret
we inform’d them of what we
had been doing at Cornplanter’s
settlement
, & of the young men
we had left there to instruct the
Indians to plough & c. & of Friends
concern for the Indians in general;
with which they express’d their
satisfaction, saying they took it
very kind that we call’d to see
them, & to inform them of what we
had been doing at Jeniscotago,
for they had heard something
about it, but they had nothing
further to say; We then shook
hands with them & bid them
farewell. We then turn’d a
little to the right, leaving Cata-
rawgus
considerably to our left,
