its violence, sweep them down the river, we
therefore concluded to encamp, and having
found a sand bank a piece back from the
river, John seemed to pitch upon this
place as most eligible for our quarters, and
soon struck us up a fire, round which we
hung some of our wet things, and having
let out our horses to provide for themselves, we
made some warm chocolate for our suppers
out of very muddy water, which we carri-
ed in our tins nearly half a mile, soon
after which we disposed ourselves for rest,
and were favoured to forget our difficul-
ties for a while in refreshing sleep: we
must not forget to add, for your con-
solation, that you know but little
about
