made the following Defence;
viz.

Brothers, we are happy
that the great Spirit has al-
lowed us to smoke a pipe
together on this Occasion;
and we understand perfectly
well all what you have said
to us: now we will answer
as far as concerns us.

Brothers, it is true we have
agreed to help one another
