A weighty concern having been opened in
the year 1795 in our Yearly Meeting

specting the difficulties and distresses to which
the Indian natives of this land were subject, it
obtained the serious attention of Friends; and
many observations were made, relative to the
kindness of their ancestors to ours in the early
settlement of this country; exciting a deep con-
sideration and enquiry, whether, under the in-
