Went 6 miles up the Juniatta
through rough mountainous
country to Bedford having about
one mile back crosed the River
on a bridge the town stands
in a Valley surrounded by high
mountains it is a pretty pleasant
being situated on an elevated spot
near a branch of the river the town
contains a number of good stone
houses, among which are a Court
house and a Jail.

Here we got our breakfast and
then passed over a very mountainous
poor country and but thinly settled
